Senator Carol Moseley Braun Says Parking Meter Mess Tip of the Iceberg; Calls For End to Lifetime Leases of Public Property
November 10, 2010 -- Former U.S. Senator Carol Moseley Braun will discuss the negative impact of the city’s current parking meter deal and the need to pull the plug on lifetime leasing of public assets to private companies. As a citizen of Chicago and a candidate for Mayor, Moseley Braun says she intends to ask the courts for permission to file amicus briefs (or join as a plaintiff) in support of two lawsuits filed against the city in connection with the parking meter lease.
The Senator is currently traveling the neighborhoods of Chicago to hear the concerns of citizens as she moves towards officially announcing her candidacy in the upcoming 2011 Mayoral election.
