Carol Moseley Braun Files More than 91,000 Signatures With Petitions Gathered Across All Chicago Neighborhoods

November 15, 2010 -- Senator Carol Moseley Braun today demonstrated the citywide appeal of her candidacy for Mayor of Chicago by filing 91,180 signatures with the Board of Elections.  It is believed to be the largest number of signatures gathered by any candidate in just two months of canvassing.

“This unprecedented effort by a cross section of citizens from all of Chicago’s neighborhoods is a clear demonstration of their support for our campaign,” said Moseley Braun. “People of all backgrounds are calling for a new direction in moving the city forward.  They are asking for new leadership in meeting the challenges the city is facing.  I want to say to them that I hear them, and I appreciate and accept their support for me as their candidate for Mayor.”

The Carol For Chicago campaign actually collected more than 100,000 signatures. Of the total gathered, 10,000 signatures were not submitted following scrutiny for accuracy and compliance with submission guidelines.

Carol Moseley Braun will officially begin her campaign for Mayor of Chicago when she announces her candidacy at a public event on Saturday, November 20th.
